Former commissioner gets four years for perjury
A former Okaloosa County Commissioner will spend four years on probation for his 'no contest' plea to 8 misdemeanor perjury charges.
James Campbell accepted a plea agreement in exchange for his nine felony counts of official misconduct being dropped.
Prosecutors say he misused his position to sale sponsorships to the Niceville Mullet Festival and secure donations.
They say he also failed to report the income to the State Commission on ethics.
Campbell was arrested and removed from office in September, 2012.
Because the felony charges were dropped, Campbell can still collect his state pensions for the years he worked.
