National Naval Aviation Museum begins re-scheduling events from shutdown

NAS PENSACOLA   --  The Naval Aviation Museum is back open to the public.
It was shut down for more than two weeks during the government shutdown.
The museum relies on about 400 volunteers as tour guides, theater management and other duties.

However is also employs about 80 federal workers who run everything from security to the electrical system.
They were furloughed October 1st because of the partial federal government shutdown.
People we talked to today are happy to see it back open to the public.
The celebration events, including a black-tie fundraising dinner, special tours and exhibits is now being planned for sometime in "the first half of next year," Ragsdale said.

The museum's 50th Anniversary Celebration events were canceled because of the closing.
They have not been rescheduled yet.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
