Okaloosa Co to receive extra budget to retain School Resource Officers
OKALOOSA COUNTY -- He Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is getting 1.4 *million dollars to keep Resource Officers in every school.
The grant money comes from the US Department of Justice of Community Oriented Police Services.
Sheriff Larry Ashley says he will use the money to pay the salaries of ten of its twenty-six additional School Resource Officer positions.
73 Florida agencies applied for the grant, but only fifteen were awarded the money.
