Starbucks pays it forward

And Starbucks is hoping to show lawmakers the importance of helping each other.

The company has launched a new campaign called "Pay It Forward" which runs through Friday. Customers who buy a drink for the customer next in line will get a free tall brewed coffee for themselves.

The CEO of starbucks said the government shutdown has created a period of uncertainty in the U.S. He says this "pay it forward" type campaign is meant to help people support one another during this challenging time.

Others say the idea is just another promotion for the coffeehouse chain.
