Santa Rosa County deputies seek help in Cold Case

SANTA ROSA COUNTY   --  Santa Rosa County deputies are asking for your help in an unsolved murder case.  Back in March, 31-year-old Phillip Davenport from Navarre was shot and killed in his own front yard on Larker Woods Road. It's been 7 months since he was killed and investigators still aren't a whole lot closer to finding the killer.

One neighbor, Beth Edwards said, "I always wondered if they found the person, or if it was drug related."

Tom Stout lives three doors down, he said "I really haven't heard much of anything, awhile back we heard some rumors back and forth."

Neighbors still don't know why the 31-year-old was killed. It happened right after midnight just steps from his front porch.

Stout says neighbors are on edge because they still don't know who did it. He said, "I walk my dogs in the evening. You never know who's prowling around, not much traffic, not many people around here. "

Santa Rosa County detectives say they are making headway but not as quick as they would like. Beth Edwards heard about the murder soon after she moved to the neighborhood. She adopted a pit bull to protect her. She said "It's pretty scary, pretty scary, hope they solve the case."

A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. You are asked to call Crimestoppers at 437-STOP.
