The Blue Angels are back
PENSACOLA -- A familiar site is returning to the sky.
The Blue Angels are back.
They have the funding for a 2014 air show season.
The first show is March 15 th in el Centro, California.
But fast forward to July 12th for the exciting part.
They are back on July 12-th for our beach show and the homecoming show in November.
We found a way to make the best of it
For the past six months, Commander Tom Frosch has worn his Blue Angel patch but his dream of performing across the nation for the Navy was grounded.
I'm not going to lie to you. It was very disappointing. The unknown of whether we would be coming back this season. We are very excited we will get the opportunity next year
Frosch says it tough to describe just how excited they were to get the news but they all know they'll be playing a game of catch-up to get ready...
I think getting ourselves mentally back into the game is a completely different up tempo than we are used to. We are flying six days a week traditionally and now we are flying 3-4 days a week. We need to get ourselves mentally geared toward that operational tempo. It's def a walk run mindset.
Last year at this time the team was funded and they were preparing for the 2013 season and then in April-they were grounded and our skies lonely without them. Are there any worries that could happen again?
I think we are always nervous something like that could happen. I'm very confident we will be able to execute the full season...
Their fans also have faith they are here to stay...
The Blues will fly a few hours a week throughout October and in November they will begin their winter training schedule here in Pensacola.
And then head to California in January for two months to finish it up.
Their first show will be there in March
In 2014, the Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 65 shows at 34 location across the US.
The season starts on March 15th in el Centro, California and ends right here in their hometown, at NAS Pensacola, on November 8th.
