SANTA ROSA COUNTY   --  Hurricane proofing your home can be pretty expensive.

And now, "Rebuild Northwest Florida", an organization that helps homeowners curb the cost, has run out of money in Santa Rosa County.

Rebuild NWF help with home mitigation by paying up to 75-percent of the cost for things like hurricane proof doors, shutters, and garage doors.

"We did have funding for Santa Rosa, and we've used all of that money up, and it's not based on us or the county, it is a federal formula we have to go by."

Right now, residents in Escambia County are the only ones who can receive assistance through FEMA approved federal grant money.

Money used for Santa Rosa County has since run out.
William Macnaughton   Home owner
"To a certain degree it's the homeowner's responsibility to pay for protective measures."

Rebuild NWF has already applied for new grant money for Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.

They're waiting to hear back.
