Burgess Road project begins today
ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- A road work project is going to impact some Escambia County drivers for the next few months.
Crews began working on Burgess Road near Highway 29 this morning.
This road gets pretty busy during the peak travel times each day... So the Florida Department of Transportation is going to construct a right turn lane here.
The lane will be added next to where there is currently a multi-direction turn lane at the intersection of Highway 29.
Crews are expected to begin work Monday with construction lasting about three months.
Motorists can expect intermittent lane restrictions during the more than 110,000 dollar project.
DOT says no lane closures will be allowed during holidays or special events.
Drivers who use the road say the separate lane will help speed up their travel time during the rush hours.
Steve Davis- Driver
"Traffic always gets held up there on that corner. I think it's good."
James Thompson- Driver
"It's a little bit of an inconvenience cause my house is right near there, but once they are done with it, it will be good."
Drivers should to pay attention for new traffic patterns and watch their speed when driving in work zones.
