Blue Angels are back for 2014
Our very own Blue Angels are back.
Channel Three news has confirmed the Blues will return to their full schedule in 2014.
Shows were cancelled in April this year because of sequestration, but the Navy reports the Blues are fully funded for the 2014 season. Since then, the pilots have been practicing 11 flight hours a month, and participating in community events on the ground.
The six pilots are usually assigned to the Blue Angel team for two years.... but the Blues' spokesperson says the current pilots will stay on an extra year.
Community outreach is key to connecting Americans to the military, said Blue Angels Commanding Officer and Flight Leader, Cmdr. Thomas Frosch. Our performances provide a unique opportunity to inspire millions to connect with and support our service members, and we are looking forward to an exciting 2014 season.
The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 65 shows at 34 locations throughout the U.S. in 2014.
