Walmart starts the holiday shopping season early with Black Friday prices

It's only the first of November but Walmart is kicking off the holiday shopping season with seven big deals on tv's, tablets and more. Deals that will be available online at walmart.com.
Why are they doing this so early?

As Channel Three's Kavontae Smalls reports, they are trying to make up now because there are six fewer shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Dollie Pettis says Walmart is one of her favorite places to shop. She admits, most of her pay check is spent there.
But Dollie feels a day after Halloween is just too soon to start Black Friday holiday shopping. She says, "I don't like Christmas to precede Thanksgiving."

Retailers have been stretching the holiday shopping season over the years, most recently by opening on Thanksgiving Day.

Now Walmart is testing the will of holiday shoppers even more. Just a day after Halloween, shoppers will be able to buy items online, like tvs and tablets on Walmart's website at Black Friday prices. Some people believe with more time to shop, it may ease the chaos on Black Friday.

Christine Baehr states,"I think at the last minute sometimes after Thanksgiving some people may be in the mood for shopping but I don't know, I'm usually pretty tired after Thanksgiving so I think it's great getting people an early start for Christmas."

The National Federation of Retailers say 4 in 10 Americans, begin their holiday shopping before Halloween.
As for Dollie, it doesn't matter how early the shopping season starts, since she's a self-pro claimed 'last minute shopper' anyway.
"It depends on your point of view, but personally, I'm one of the last minute ones and gift cards were made for me."
