HEALTH NEWS: Abortion debate continues

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, supporters of abortion rights are claiming victory against a proposal that would have banned abortions after 20 weeks, or so-called "late-term abortions."

But in Texas there was a victory for people seeking to limit or end abortions all together.
In a 5-4 vote the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Texas to continue enforcing its controversial new abortion law.

Back in July, the Texas legislature passed a law requiring doctors who perform abortions in clinics to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

As a result of the new law, a third of Texas abortion clinics have had to close.
Supporters of abortions rights say the Texas law and others like it are part of a new strategy to legislate around Roe. V. Wade, which guarantees a woman's right to an abortion.
