One Soldier's dream is becoming reality

Veterans day is Monday.
About 820 thousand US troops have served in Afghanistan since 2001. More than 48 thousand remain.
One soldier dreamed of meeting his daughter for the first time.
For Brittany Lotts and so many other military families, the road has been difficult.

Her husband, Captain William Lotts stationed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. He deployed when she was just 15 weeks pregnant.

Now in just a few days, he will meet their 3 month old daughter, Finley for the very first time.

Captain Lotts is one of those nearly 50,000 American troops still in Afghanistan now. He and his division, making the long journey home.

Back in Fort Drum, hundreds of supporters waiting to greet them, and an anxious wife on the way.

The excitement of his return, made exponentially more so with the anticipation.

After nine months apart, spanning a distance of over 6500 miles, finally a reunion of parents and children.

For Captain Lotts it's a new normal, for him and so many other soldiers like him.

One of which they and he will never get enough.
