Grinch stole one family's gifts and dog

Police in Tampa stepped in to help a family, after thieves took off with their Christmas presents.
But, as Andre Senior reports, the family's most prized possession cannot be replaced.

Clothes scattered everywhere. Melody Russell returned from work last night and found her Temple Terrace home ransacked.
"I noticed there was a mess of stuff, a pile of stuff in the hallway, which wasn't there."

The crooks broke in through a sliding glass door in her bedroom. And once inside, they went through every bedroom in the house, pulling clothes from draws. And then went right for the gifts under the living room Christmas tree.

Then, to add insult to injury, the thieves stole the family's Shih Tzu puppy named Honey. Tampa police are still searching for the dog right now. And while they do, several members of the department came to the home and put dozens of gifts under the tree for Melody and her children so they could still celebrate Christmas. Gifts gratefully accepted, but the family said they won't be whole until one member of their family is returned.

"I don't think my kids are necessarily concerned about their gifts. Their dog is what they want."
