Pensacola city council to vote tonight on Domestic Partnership

A final vote on an ordinance that would create a domestic partnership registry in Pensacola is expected tonight.

The city council is meeting at 5-30.
They will have a final reading of the ordinance and then vote.
It council members vote "yes" unmarried couples-- gay or straight-- would have the option to register as partners with the city.
    
If it is approved tonight, it will not be effective immediately.
The city would have a 90 day window to get the documents in order for the registry.
