Cake Boss makes one girl's wish come true

Little Katie Secord, from Toledo, Ohio, enjoys staying active.

What I love to do is cheerleading, Katie, 11, told ABC News.

In March, Katie began experiencing neurological symptoms including a paralyzed tongue. Her doctors diagnosis was Burkitts lymphoma, a type of cancer.

Its surreal to hear that your kid has cancer, her mother, Tiffany Secord, explained. Its heartbreaking. Its life changing.

Katie underwent nine rounds of painful chemotherapy.

The chemo really tore her up, said her father, Steve Secord. Its just a shock to see your daughter like that.

Friends, family and her fellow cheerleaders helped Katie stay positive, along with one of her favorite activities, Rainbow Looms, where she turns colorful rubber bands into creative pieces of jewelry.

The Rainbow Looms keep her mind occupied, off all the Steve explained, getting so choked up he couldnt complete the sentence.

For her wish, Katie dreamed of baking a cake with Cake Boss Buddy Valastro. And then one day, a special message arrived for her.

I want you and your family to come spend the day with me, Valastro told the young girl in a video recording.

Katie was overjoyed, and days later, she was at Buddys famous shop in Hoboken, N.J., where together they baked a magnificent cake.

Now, with her chemo completed, Katie is cancer-free, looking forward to a future as sweet as her special wish.
