Painted piano is up for playing in Downtown Pensacola

A painted piano is now sitting on the sidewalk in Downtown Pensacola and anyone is invited to sit down and play.

A university of West Florida Music major kicked off the piano project at the corner of Palafox and Garden Streets. UWF's art and music departments teamed up with the city of Pensacola to create this impromptu performance spot.  A second piano will be installed at the Community Maritime Park.

"It's a great way for, to spread art and have a lot of fun just playing music at downtown, you know," said James Matthews, a UWF piano performance major. "A place where you can just take a break from work and come play the piano for your lunch break a little bit."

The plan is to place painted pianos at several locations around Pensacola to encourage music and art throughout the community.
