Los Angeles sues banks

The city of Los Angeles is accusing two big banks of mortgage discrimination.

The city has filed lawsuits in district court against Citigroup and Wells Fargo.
They say both banks engaged in lending practices like redlining that showed discrimination against minorities by giving them loans they couldn't afford.
They also say this caused an unequal amount of foreclosures in their communities than in white neighborhoods.
The banks have released statements saying the suits are baseless and without merit.
