Gulf Power heads to Dallas-Fort Worth to help with winter storms

Gulf Power is sending a storm team  to Texas this morning to help out as a winter storm sweeps across the area.

Dallas is bracing for its coldest weather in two years.
A winter storm is expected to bring ice and wind to that area, which could leave a lot of people without power.

74 employees left in convoys this morning from Pensacola Crestview and Chipley.
They will assist with power restoration in the  Dallas- Fort Worth area.

Oncor, the power company in the Dallas area, serves 10 million customers.

"In times of devastation, like when hurricanes come to our area, other companies come from as far away as Alaska like back in Ivan to help us restore power to customers. It means a lot to get a helping hand cause it's overwhelming once you get hit with a storm."

No word on when the crews will return home.
