Orange Beach school security

In a day and age where security at schools tends to be on people's minds... Why are security upgrades at a local elementary school being stopped?
That's the question on many people's minds at Orange Beach Elementary.

So far the city has paid for upgrades including panic buttons, an ID screening system, and a school resource officer.

Now they've given the Police Chief close to 12-grand to secure the school's main entrance.
But now the Mayor says the Baldwin County Superintendent told him he doesn't want the school to look like a fortress.

"It might appear like a fortress to some people but as soon as you have somebody come in and attack the children and children die they are going to wish they had done it."

Now the Mayor is calling for a town hall meeting, saying folks in Orange Beach deserve a "face to face" explanation from the school board and Superintendent Dr. Alan Lee.
Mayor Kennon also says he will now turn his attention to pushing for a separate school system.
