UPDATE: Target breach of debit/credit cards
(ABC) The security breach at Target stores nationwide. With only 5 shopping days left until Christmas, so many of you are trying to check the final items off of your list and are following this story closely.
For 40 million target shoppers, the grinch came early this year--stealing personal credit & debit card information -likely selling it on the black market.

So what kind of fraudulent purchases should consumers look for?
Look for ones that are under 5 US dollars, under 10 US dollars. In some cases around a dollar. Because these are usually indications that the criminals are actually testing the card to see if it's been blocked,
The breach could affect anyone shopping at Target stores from the day before Thanksgiving until it was discovered this week. I know many people will be victims and it's a shame, especially at the holiday season.
So what's the best way to protect yourself? Remember you can always use cash. But if you do shop with plastic--like almost all of us do--always check those statements and make sure every purchase is one you really made.
