Hangout Festival pumps millions in to local economy
GULF SHORES -- This year's Hangout Music Festival pumped *millions of dollars into the area economy.
That's according to an Auburn University study.
Researchers found that the three-day music festival in Gulf Shores generated about $31 million to the local economy in businesses related to lodging, food and entertainment.
Researchers interviewed business owners and reviewed earlier studies and statistics related to the festival.
The city says the data will help organizers to do an even better job with the 2014 Hangout Fest in May.
