Artic blast getting ready to make an appearance

Today's blast of brutal cold could yield the lowest temperatures so far this winter in many communities, especially in the Great Lakes region. 

Many of the lakes are frozen over and some areas are still dealing with blinding snow.

Meanwhile people in North Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota are being discouraged from from venturing out on the roads

Problems the "winter storm" is causing around America.
This brutal winter is about to get worse.
 A fast moving Arctic weather system is spreading dangerous cold and heavy winds. blinding snow paralyzed the Dakotas.
The Midwest woke up today to wind chill warnings between 30 to 60 below zero!

Frigid winds forced schools to close in Chicago and parts of Minnesota. crews rushed to clear snow before it turns to ice.
"It's going to be a very hard freeze and no matter what you put on it, salt or whatever, it's not going to move."
In Indianapolis, the city's annual  snow removal budget already wiped out.

Heavy snow forced crews to work every day this month.
In Wisconsin, they've run out of salt.
The town of Waukesha has used its entire allocation of salt for the 2013, 2014 season.
In the upper midwest, thousands of residents were asked to turn down their thermostats after a natural gas pipeline explosion in Canada caused a gas shortage.

Your heart jumps into your throat and you think, are we going to have enough heat to heat our homes.
Whiteout conditions are grounding flights and making driving a nightmare.

 One thing that made me get off the road was when I came through a without and there was a jeep stopped in the middle of the travel portion of the road because he got scared by the white out.
Mild conditions today in the Northeast but the temperatures is about to plunge. That cold air wreaking havoc in the nation's Midsection is expected to keep pressing South and turn toward New York, Boston and Washington, DC.
