Monster winter storm battering midwest

MIDWEST   --  A monster winter storm is battering the midwest and taking aim at the northeast this morning.

More than 70 million people in the storms path are preparing for freezing temperatures and blizzard-like conditions.

The snow storm is effecting 21 states.
More than a 100 million Americans are in the path of the first major snow storm of 2014.

I'm hoping it's not going to be as bad as they say
Forecasters say 22 states from Kansas to New England are going to feel the force of the winter blizzard.
 
I'm not driving today. I'm taking the train
In Chicago, the area is already buried under a foot of snow..
 
It's just keeps piling up and this has just not stopped
It's horrible. I guess it's Chicago weather typical

Residents there using whatever they can find to clear the snow.
"You got to improvise " (man uses paper bag to clean the windshield)

All across the midwest, slippery roads are making driving dangerous this car sliding into a traffic light and stop sign before plowing into a store..

This train in eastern Iowa derailed after the freezing temperatures warped the rails
And if you think air travel is any better, think again.  More than 2300 flights are have already been delayed and more than 1100 have been cancelled

The massive storm is now moving east..
"They are saying somewhere between 6 possibly 14 inches, but with this I'll be ready"

In Boston, where they expect more than a foot of snow -- local authorities say they're ready for the blizzard

Residents in the northeast are stocking up ahead of the snow and single digit temperatures..
 
I'm ready to go. Anything bad, storming right out of New Jersey.
