Roadtrip: BCS Championship Game
The National Championship game is still a few days away, but one group is driving all the way across country to see the game in person, going from "Doak to Dena".
The distance from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee to Pasadena is just over 2,300 miles. Some of the FSU alumni association is driving that distance, hoping those miles will bring people together. David Overstreet explains. "We're stopping at all the Seminole clubs every 4 or 5 hours we'll stop in a city and meet the Seminoles and get them connected."
Fans from the local Seminole club came out to wish them well on their trip, plus sign a banner that will be taken to the championship game.
Overstreet says, "The group over here does a lot of great events. They have their game watching parties and it really is a great way for people who love the university to get together and share that camaraderie."
We asked local fans if they would consider driving all the way to the west coast to see the game.
"Ummmmm.... Maybe. If I had the right crowd with me I would," says Jimmy Vann.
Linda Harageones disagrees. "No, I have an airline ticket."
So why not just fly?
"We considered flying but this is more fun! This is going to be an epic trip," says Overstreet.
Whether flying or driving, the cheers are the same.
"Florida State is number 1 and they will be number 1 Monday night at about midnight."
If you'd like to follow the trip, you can do it online at www.doaktodena.com, and if you're looking for a place to watch the game, there will be a lot of Florida State fans at Seville Quarter in Pensacola on Monday night.
