Homestead Exemption deadline March 1st

If you've bought a home in the past year, you have just a few weeks to make sure you're registered for Homestead Exemption.

The deadline is March 1st.
Everyone qualifies for the standard exemption on their primary residence and some, including widows and the disabled, may qualify for additional discounts.

Chris Jones/Escambia Property Appraiser: "There's numerous exemptions that are available to those veterans and we appreciate their service and this is a way that we can help them and pay them back."
Something new this year is an exemption for seniors.
You have to be 65 or older, with an adjusted gross income under 28,000 dollars, and have lived in your homes for 25 years or more.
It's available only in certain counties.
In our area, Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties are offering the exemption.
