New bill filed on bullying to make it a criminal offense
FLORIDA -- A new bill on bullying was filed at the Florida capitol today.
Tricia Norman and State Representative Heather Fitzenhagen appeared at a news conference to announce the bill has been filed.
Norman is the mother of a 12-year-old girl who committed suicide after she was allegedly bullied.
The bill would make it a first-degree misdemeanor to willfully, maliciously or repeatedly harass or cyberbully another person -- and a third-degree felony if there's a "credible threat" involved in the harassment.
