Escambia County home destroyed by fire

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --  A home in Escambia County was destroyed by fire overnight.
It happened on Gregg Road around one thirty this morning.

They weren't surprised a fire broke out.. .
Kalie Desimone- Neighbors say it's a shame that this house is reduced to rubble but they aren't surprised.

Eli Dunn- Neighbor
"A lot of problems, a lot of cops, a lot of arguing, a lot of strangers coming in and out."
Eli Dunn has lived on Gregg Road for a little more than a year. She says it wasn't uncommon to see small fires burning in the front yard. But recently, she hasn't seen a whole lot activity going on at the home.

"The guy who was living there rode off on a bicycle over a week ago and there's been no one over there. I have no idea what happened."

Fire crews spent several hours putting the flames out at the home. The Fire Marshal was called to investigate and says the fire is considered suspicious. The woman who owns the home now lives in Birmingham but was renting the house out according to neighbors. But the constant in and out of people made those who live on this street including Eli Dunn feel uncomfortable.

"I keep my doors locked. I have a screen door that locks, we kind of all stay together."

Kalie Desimone- If you have any information involving this fire you are encouraged to contact the Fire Marshals office.
