Retrial for Floyd murder case

BREWTON   --  A new murder trial has been ordered for a Santa Rosa County man after a Florida appeals court threw out his second degree murder conviction.

Robert Floyd was sentenced to 30 years in prison for shooting a Brewton teen to death in 2010.

The First District Court of Appeals ruled the jury that convicted Floyd was given conflicting instructions about the self defense and "Stand Your Ground Law".

In February 2010 -- four people drove up to Floyd's home on Country Mill Road in Jay for a party.

The group and Floyd got into an argument that ended with an 18-year-old dead.
