Fort Walton Beach bell tower replaced

FORT WALTON BEACH   --  A church bell tower that was stolen last fall is now back in place.
The bell tower at St. Simon's Episcopal Church in Fort Walton Beach was stolen from a welding yard while it was being repaired.
The thief was never caught, and the tower was never found.
The contractor who was doing the job built a new tower.
It was blessed and put back on top of the church this morning.

Rev. Mark Fitzhugh "The bell is a message that Christ is alive, and that we are a forgiving and healing community. and so I think now that we've had this ceremony, I think all of us feel really good today"

Whitrock Builders is the company that replaced the tower.
It holds St. Simon's original church bell, from 1946.
