UWF hires first head football coach

UWF has a lot of work to do before the Argos play their first football game in 2016.
And they have found the man to do it.

The Argos hired Pete Shinnick as their first head football coach.
He spent the past seven years at UNC-Pembroke, where he started that division two program from scratch, exactly what UWF wants him to do.

Shinnick has also been an assistant on the division one level, including at Arkansas and Clemson.
Plus his dad Don was a longtime NFL Linebacker for the Baltimore Colts.

Shinnick's success starting a program seems to make him the perfect fit.

Dave Scott, UWF Athletic Director, said "He had taken them from scratch to D-II playoffs in three years, quicker than any other coach in the history of  Division Two.  When your looking at trying to hire a coach, or in anything you do, usually the best indication of success is what they've done before. He'll fit in with our group here at the University of West Florida very well, and will help us through these next three years before we actually play that first game because he's not guessing, he's done it."
