Institute for Human and Machine Cognition expanding

A Think Tank in downtown Pensacola is about to get an eight million dollar expansion.

The Institute for Human and Machine Cognition is adding a thirty-thousand square foot building behind its campus on Alcaniz Street.

The current building will also get a make-over.
Right now, IHMC uses space in four different buildings downtown.

Julie Sheppard/IHMC: "We have a lot of opportunity to compete on research projects but we don't have the lab space and facilities to do that so hopefully this'll also, we'll be able to expand the current research work that we're doing."

Architect Carte Quina is designing the three-story building to help it blend in to the historical warehouse district.
Construction is expected to begin in the spring, with the building to open in summer 2015.
