18 foot Python found near Everglades

A Florida water management crew got quite a surprise this week.
They stumbled upon a nearly 18-foot Python near the Everglades.
The snake weighed in around 150 pounds!
They called in the agency's Python coordinator who shot and killed the snake.
Typically people buy them as pets, then release them into the wild when they no longer want them.
Researchers say that's a problem because the snakes feed on native animals and destroy ecosystems.
