State funding $14 million renovation at airport

Pensacola International Airport is getting $14 million in funding from the state.

Governor Rick Scott made the announcement last night that his 2014-2015 budget includes $325 million for aviation improvements across the state. The money earmarked for Pensacola is meant to be used on airport expansion projects to support the establishment of ST Aerospace, a major maintenance, repair and overhaul service provider.

Pensacola International Airport Director Greg Donovan says, "In the coming years, hundreds of additional jobs and partnerships with many new companies are now possible due to Governor Scott's strong support of transportation."

The $14 million is not a done deal. Lawmakers have only just started debating the governor's proposed budget.
