Healthcare for the homeless

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --  There's a new program starting in Pensacola this week to provide healthcare, for the homeless.

Escambia Community Clinics are opening up a primary healthcare site at the Waterfront Rescue Mission.

The center start providing services on Thursday.
They will be open Monday through Friday from  8am to 4:30.

Florida's Department of Highway Safety is helping homeless people in our area get identification cards.

The Waterfront Rescue Mission hosted the department's mobile unit today.
People who might not otherwise be able to afford an ID card were able get one.

"They can take that ID card and apply for benefits. They can go to Workforce Escarosa and look on the jobs screen for jobs. So identification is so important."

Thanks to a grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Escambia Community Clinic will open a new clinic at the Waterfront Rescue Mission later this week.
