Bagelheads: airport restaurants should be local

The decision over who will provide concessions at the Pensacola International Airport is at a stand-still.
A group representing National chains like "Chick-Fil-A" won the bid, but the city council shot it down.
Now, they are looking at starting the entire process over.
During the first round,  local restaurants also competed for the bid.
Now, one of the owner of one of those restaurants is sending a message to the Mayor.

In a letter, Bagelheads accuses Mayor Ashton Hayward of being anti- local business.
Bagelheads' owner, Rob Mackey, says this letter partially stems from losing the airport concessions contract.
So, we took the letter to Mayor Hayward, who says the bid process was more than fair.
"I'm sure they are disappointed they lost the bid at the airport, they didn't protest the process or the RFP, I can't do favors for friends with taxpayer dollars, I guess they just don't understand it."

The Mayor says the other group won because they offered a million dollars more plus more improvements.
The current contract, with Verona's restaurant, expires at the end of March.
