Former Santa Rosa Co Correctional officer arrested for sex crimes

SANTA ROSA COUNTY  --  A former corrections officer in Milton is now behind bars himself accused of sex crimes against a child.

Billy Gibson has been terminated from his job and arrested on ten counts of capital sexual battery on a child less than twelve years old.
He's being held on one-and- a-half million dollars bond.
The state fired Gibson from the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution on Friday.
Investigators say he sexually molested a child repeatedly between 2012 and 2013.
This apartment in Milton off Highway 87 is where Gibson had most recently been living according to neighbors and county records.

It sits in a complex that's home to several children and parents who are outraged.
Robert Ward, Neighbor of Suspect: "I think it's sick. They should lock him up and throw away the key."
Many of the details in the sheriff's office report are too graphic for television.
Investigators say the alleged victim was repeatedly subjected to painful sexual acts in Gibson's bedroom after coming over to visit.
They say Gibson would show the child how to view pornography online and that the child got into trouble at school for logging on to adult websites.

Robert Ward, Neighbor of Suspect: "I couldn't imagine it happening to one of mine. I don't let mine outta my sight. They stay right out here with me."
Neighbors say they had no idea any of the alleged abuse was happening.
Betina Galloway, Neighbor of Suspect: "He seemed kind of quiet. You know, as the saying goes, you have to be careful of people who's always quiet because you never know what they are capable of doing."
The child's age and identity have not been released.
And we're not allowed to show Gibson's mug shot because he's a former law enforcement officer.
The sheriff's office says its investigation was initiated by a Department of Children and Families report done in September.

Robert Ward, Neighbor of Suspect: "For it to happen in a community like this. I mean with us, living right there that's, it really changed my mind. I don't know what to think."
The Department of Children and Families told me they can't reveal how  ** their** investigation was initiated.
Gibson is now behind bars at the Santa Rosa County jail on 1.5 million dollars bond.
