Feds to recognize same-sex marriages

The Justice Department will recognize same-sex unions in federal law.

The department got the memo today from Attorney General Eric Holder.
At a human rights campaign gala this weekend, holder announced the federal government would expand recognition of same-sex marriages in federal legal matters.
This includes, spousal rights in bankruptcies, prison visits, and refusing to testify against a spouse in court.

"Just as was true during the civil rights movement of the 1960s, the stakes involved in this generation's struggle for LGBT equality could not be higher."

States do not recognize the unions Florida is one of them.
Earlier this year, six same-sex couples filed suit against the state for their inability to marry here.
