Federal Bureau of Indian affairs spending
The Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs has been on a little buying binge, spending more than 32 million taxpayer dollars on property, buildings and renewing leases.
Now as part of the Interior Department that might have gone unnoticed had it not been for the General Services Administration.
The GSA oversees all federal property, and discovered that BIA did not follow proper procedures in acquiring the property.
Our investigative media partner, The Washington Times, sized up the internal watchdog's report.
"They wound up paying for buildings that were too large, more square footage than they can use. So, investigators think the bureau overpaid by about 32 million dollars."
How will the GSA get the BIA to shape up? You can read about it by going to our website and following the link to the Washington Times.
