Fort Leavenworth escapee caught in Florida 37 years later

A man who escaped from a Kansas military prison 37 years ago, has been re-arrested in Florida.

59-year-old James Robert Jones was arrested Thursday in Deerfield Beach, Fla., where he was living.

Jones was serving a 23-year sentence for premeditated murder and aggravated assault at Fort Leavenworth when he escaped in 1977.

A prison photo of Jones matched a Florida driver's license issued in 1981 under a false name.

Jones will be extradited back to Kansas to finish his sentence.
