Troops drawdown in Afghanistan

President Obama wants all US combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
But  a top US commander in Afghanistan doesn't think that is wise.

General Joseph Dunford testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee today.

He is confident Al Qaeda is waiting for an opportunity to strike again.
He says he believes there would be an increased risk if there is a sharp draw down of American troops.

I also don't think there is any doubt that the pressure that we have had on the network over the past ten years in particular has prevented them from doing that.

If a bilateral security agreement is signed with Afghanistan, a contingency of American troops would stay in the country to help Afghan troops.
