North Hill neighborhood sends message, No Correctional Community Center

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --  A follow up on a story we've been telling you about involving a probation and parole office moving to the North Hill neighborhood.

Over the weekend, dozens of people roamed the streets passing out flyers telling residents to attend Pensacola's upcoming council meeting.
They're trying to rally support and send a message.
They don't want to see thousands of offenders in their neighborhood.

The City of Pensacola gave the Department of Corrections a permit to move into the old Coca Cola bottling plant on Palafox Street.
But it turns out.
The building on Palafox isn't zoned for a Correctional Community Center.
"A lot of these people are felony offenders, for murder for rape and offenses against children.  That is not compatible with a residential neighborhood"
The Pensacola City Council is expected to discuss the probation and parole office moving to the old Coca Cola bottling plant this upcoming Thursday night at its council meeting.
