Improving passenger safety and emergency response on cruise ships

Improving passenger safety and emergency response aboard cruise ships.

That's the goal of the National Transportation Safety Board hearing going on in Washington D C  right now.

The hearing comes a little more than a year after a fire aboard the Carnival Triumph left the ship adrift for days in the Gulf of Mexico.

Some 3,000 passengers were stranded in filth and misery with out electricity or working toilets.

The ship ended up being towed to the Port of Mobile in Alabama.
The NTSB says most ship and ferry accident are typically caused by problems with safety practices.
