High school student sues parents for school tuition

A high school student who is suing her own parents won't get any money for now.

A New Jersey judge denied Rachel Canning's request for immediate financial assistance from her parents.
The high school senior says her parents abused her and then kicked her out.

She wanted the judge to grant her 650 dollars a week in child support and private school tuition payments.
But Rachel's parents claim she stormed out of their house last October, after she refused to obey their rules, stealing credit cards and staying out late and drinking.

In the end, the judge sided with the parents.
'What will the next step be? Are we going to condone a 12 year old to sue over an x-box?"
"I believe that she is a vulnerable young woman, and her parents are not taking care of her."
"We gave her the ultimatum to break up with her boyfriend, but she didn't want to give up the boyfriend."

Rachel is also suing her parents for the cost of her college education which begins in the Fall.
The judge will rule on that at a later date.
