Archaeology event: dash through the past
March is Florida archaeology month and some local history buffs are kicking things off with its first official dash through the past event.
Ten teams of two scoured through downtown Pensacola.
They had to visit several historic sites,
Read signs and complete challenges in a two mile course.
The team that completed the hunt the fasted won a prize.
Mike Thomin, from the FL Public Archaeology Network "They're given a series of questions and a map where they have two hours to complete it. Many of these questions and the map will take them to different historic and archaeological sites in downtown Pensacola. And they include archaeological sites, monuments and downtown buildings."
Afterwards, some of the participants got the chance to look over some old artifacts at the archeology lab.
