Findings in "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" looked at fifty years of data from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization.
They found that diets across the world grew about 36% more similar over the past five decades.
People in a growing number of countries are consuming more wheat, corn, meat, dairy and soybeans.
That means they're eating fewer unique, regional crops.
Researchers say it's dangerous for so many people to rely on such a short list of major food crops because it makes us more vulnerable to things like new diseases or climate change.
