At least 20 injured after stabbings at Pa. high school

PITTSBURGH   --  20 people were injured, at least nine seriously, in a mass stabbing at a Pittsburgh-area high school.

It happened this morning at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Murrysville.

The suspected attacker, identified as a 16-year-old male student, is in police custody.

ABC's Paula Farris has more on the situation.

As aerial footage shows students evacuating and busses lined up.

I just talked to my friend who said he just saw him running with a knife and saying then he turned the corner and there's some kids holding their stomach with blood everywhere.  The whole science wing was just chaotic and crazy.

The attack happened early this morning around 7 am EST before classes had even started at Franklin High School--located just east of Pittsburgh--which is home to 1200 students.

Eyewitness reports saying the lone suspect--a student at Franklin High-- was running around stabbing people....and there was crying and screaming in the hallways.

Student used a knife, under the age of 18, Frantic parents were told to wait at home, important for parents to realize the scene is contained, your students are safe

She was crying, and told me to get down here now, either my wife or I to get  down here to get her right away.  I don't think no parent was prepared for anything like this, and words can't describe how I felt at the time.

Investigators looking into the motive of the lone suspect who was a student. Was it targeted? Or, random.

As for the injured--all are between the ages of 14 and 17. But, none of those injuries appear to be life threatening.
