Fort Walton Beach tries to plan New Year's Eve celebration
FORT WALTON BEACH -- Pensacola has the Pelican Drop, Destin has a ball drop over the Harbor.
Now another big New Year's Eve celebration could be coming to our area.

The city recently approved a Downtown Entertainment District, with relaxed open container rules.
The city manager says it sets the stage for more and bigger events.

City staffers are researching what a New Year's Eve celebration would cost and how they'd put it together.
The big question will come if the council decides to move forward, what will Fort Walton Beach light up and drop at midnight?
A skull and crossbones is the newsroom favorite, but these military wives say pick something patriotic.
