Battle over Destin strip club is over
After a long and expensive legal battle, the dispute over a new strip club in Destin is over.
There will be no strip club.
The city council voted unanimously tonight to essentially buy out the developers.
The city will pay an Atlanta business group 1.75 million dollars to reimburse them for their efforts over the years, and stop their plans for the city's first cabaret.
The city will also buy the company's land on Airport road for another 400,000 dollars.
The strip club plans were met by fierce opposition from people who live nearby.
And the city's efforts to stop the club in court fell short.
The two sides reached an undisclosed agreement during the last legal clash.
Tonight's city council vote is a result of that deal.
