FDOT and Project Advisory Group discusses plans for 3 Mile Bridge replacement
PENSACOLA -- There's finally a plan for replacing the Pensacola Bay Bridge.
Florida Department of Transportation and Local Leaders have been working on a plan to replace the 53 year old bridge since 2011.
After considering public input and impact studies, they have chosen a "preferred corridor" that's pretty close to the current route.
The Transportation Department is going over the plan with members of the Project Advisory Group right now.
That meeting happening at the Crowne Plaza Hotel discussing plans to replace the bridge. Those plans have been in place since 2011.
There are a couple of plans on the table, but the one FDOT is recommending is the "Central-West" plan.
That plan obviously would take a more westerly route and cut into those properties you see right as you enter Gulf Breeze including the pier one marina and Bridge Bar to name a few.
The owner Scott Wheatley tells us he's worried about the impact that will have on his businesses
"So we want to work together in the county."
That meeting happening at the Crowne Plaza. There wont be a public comment portion, that will be saved for a public meeting in June.
