Update on project to replace Pensacola Bay Bridge

An update on the project to replace the Pensacola Bay Bridge.
The Florida Department of Transportation and local leaders started working on a plan in 2011, the year the bridge turned fifty-one years old.

They've done impact studies and asked for public input.
And they've decided on a "preferred corridor" that's pretty close to the current route.

They're still considering the best options for layout.
Project leaders say that will be least disruptive for everyone: The parks  and the welcome center, businesses and residents and to the environment.

The Transportation Department will go over the plan with members of the project advisory group tomorrow at five at the Crowne Plaza Grand Hotel in Pensacola.

A public hearing is scheduled for June 10th, from 5:30 to 6:30 also at the Crowne Plaza.

Staff members will be available to answer questions and take comments.
Construction is expected to begin in 2017.
